I've gone fishing in the archive pond again. As I battle this present bout with depression I often find solace in things I have written in the past while I looked up from the bottom of the pit. Here's one from 2 years ago:
Long-time friends of the Pilgrim might recall this post from the "dark ages". This dreaded guest, clothed in black, came knocking again this weekend and especially this morning, causing me to recall this post. Through the support of friends and the Spirit of God I was able to right my ship before it hit the rocks. THANKS.
Here's that post:
Lately another guest, or maybe I should call him a predator has been lingering around my "house". The dreaded "D" word...depression... has been lurking. Many of you, no doubt, have had to deal with this unwelcome visitor.
Back in January I penned a brief "post" entitled Dark Night of the Soul. In the midst of our darkness may we experience His deliverance, His delight, His divine presence.
Dark Night of the Soul
Fear
Pain
Panic
Terror
Shaking
Hot Sweats
Desperation
Cold Sweats
Apprehension
Introspection
Uncertainty
Trembling
Heartache
Insomnia
Anxiety
Horror
Dread
Guilt

".....I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness...."
I have been going through "hell" for a few days. I will return to work in two weeks and anxiety is high in my spirit. I'm being forced into a corner in a sense - my doctor signed off on an insurance form without meeting with me first to discuss the content. He acted very cold and indifferent towards me last Friday. I was supposed to do a trial return to work in November but the insurance company faxed a form with a very different story and the doc signed it. But in all of this "hell" and almost despairing over the weekend I know God is in control - this is all His plan - not the plan of men. God has been allowing a "pressure cooker" to build in me - it's time to make serious decisions. He is saying to me, "whom shall you serve - men or God? It is time to decide little one. Make your choice - security this world offers or the security of serving the Living God who called you to go to my harvest field. Look with spiritual eyes - NOT the eyes of men who do not know me - who do not serve me."
I am in need of much prayer support in the weeks ahead as I return to the job while taking certian steps towards leaving on mission - hopefully by next spring/summer - permanently. I will try and either sell my condo for money or rent it out for a steady "income" as a missionary. Please pray much for me as I make decisions according to God's will.
Yours in Christ,
Little Missionary.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Dear Pals,
Terry saw this video of prayer time in my house and suggested that I post it here on Pilgrim Pals.
Through prayer we unleash the divine power of God to demolish the strongholds of Satan. We come against the darkness of oppression, injustice and spiritual bondage. Here are four Satan ' s strongholds we can demolish through prayer.
1. POLITICAL STRONGHOLDS: Satanic inspired laws. Pray for ungodly leaders to repent or be removed from influence (Prov21;1, 1Tim 2;1-4)
Pray for God honoring leaders to be placed in power and for righteous decisions to be made that will exalt the nation (Prov 14;34)
2 CULTURAL STRONGHOLDS Satan inspired traditions. Pray for people to be free from the aspects of their worldview that are harmful and unscriptural. (1Cor 1: 20-33)
3 RELIGIOUS STRONGHOLDS Satanic inspired beliefs. Pray for people to see the emptiness of religion and seek the abundant life to be found in Christ. (Acts 17: 22-31 , John 10:10)
4 SPIRITUAL STRONGHOLDS Satanic inspired worship. Pray for people to see the foolishness of serving the created instead of the Creator. (Isa 44:9-20, Matt 4: 8-10)
