The Mission - should you choose to take it....

Dear friends, I am going on another mission!

Not to Mexico City to a garbage dump - not to the jungle in Guatemala or the mountains in Romania --- this one is closer to home. It's a FISHING TRIP! The catch will be a soul, (not sole :) the bait is the Word - Jesus incarnate!

In some ways, this mission is much more risky for me than other trips I've been on. I am asking, no, I am pleading with you - my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus to join me in this fishing trip!

What is this mission - - this fishing trip?

To invite my friend, Todd, to church on either - Holy Thursday evening (the Last Supper and agony of our Lord are deeply reflected upon in my church on this evening) or, to service on Good Friday.

I feel weird about asking Todd. Just after Christmas I told Todd I would no longer go for coffee with him, (not that he ever asked me - it was always me doing the asking but he always said enthusiastically - SURE!). I always hoped with each "date" he'd see me as someone he could form a strong bond with and perhaps down the road - way down the road - we would get married. But he has the deep wounds of a failed marriage and he hasn't dealth with the wounds - he hides the wounds with pride and buries himself in work. I strongly sense one issue he isn't even aware of is "fear of failure in another relationship." He is unable to give of himself to another woman emotionally. I realize Todd must first give himself to the Bridegroom - Todd must first love Jesus before he can ever love a woman again. He will never be mine, if he is not first totally in submission to God - the prodical son must first come home to the Father! Todd, even when saved, may never love me in the way I desire, but that is besides the point - I want him to be in God's family - my family - most of all! Sorry....I digress.....

Not long ago, the Lord laid it on my heart to ask Todd to one of the Easter services. I couldn't believe it and I responded, "Oh come on God! That can't possibily be something you want me to do! Give me a break! I'd rather go to a garbage dump!" As you well know, the mission field of unsaved family, friends and co-workers is the toughest mission of all.

I want an Easter miracle this year for Todd and I know God does too! So I'm asking any of you who want to see this miracle also to pray for the following:

1) protection for my mind from discouraging words from my own flesh and from the demons that often feed this negetivity in my mind

2) the perfect, God-ordained moment in the next few weeks for me to ask Todd to join me for church at Easter

3) that all barriers that keep Todd from God would be struck down in Jesus' Mighty Name

4) that the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) would penetrate Todd's hardened heart
Thank you all and God bless!

Dearest Little Missionary,

I will pray for you, too! Do you know once, three years ago in January, God asked me to tell someone (a man) about God's love, and my first reaction was, "Are you serious?! Not me, not that way, I'm no good at telling people like that!" Well, I prayed and prayed, and said, "God, if this really is You, You will give me the words."...and guess what happened? God is faithful!! He gave me the words, and I came away so blessed and strengthened in my faith after that, I have never been the same. I pray you are so blessed through this, too!

Love and Prayers,
LPP
