The Only True God

With so many "new" gods these days, we need to determine where our allegiance lies and stand for truth in the midst of all the perversions.

It's frightening to see how large a following Oprah Winfrey and her latest flavor of the month, Eckhart Tolle, have garnered. Their "cyberchurch" is numbering in the millions.

"Father, give us discernment during these troubling times. May we seek after truth and follow the One who said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and God, the Son. AMEN!"

These random scribblings were born out of my concern:

THE ONLY TRUE GOD

God, we know, is awesome, holy,
Not the god of Eckhart Tolle;
He, the Sovereign, reigns on high,
Those who trust Him never die.

God, we know, is faithful, mighty,
Not the god of Oprah Winfrey;
His Son Jesus died one day
Now He is the only Way.

God, we know, must get the glory
His Word, truth, inerrant wholly;
Trustworthy in every line
How I love to call Him mine.

He, with passion, we pursue,
Not some strange New Age guru,
He's my King, Ancient of Days,
To this God, I give my praise.

Psalm 96:3-5

Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.

For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens

Dear Pilgrims,
I used to watch Oprah Winfrey many years ago, and found her engaged and fascinating.
I am not informed by her going New Age.
My father always taught me to be open, not to think that I had found the only way.
However the Bible say there is only one way to salvation, and that is Jesus Christ, crucified and arisen for our trespasses.
If a church preach the old fashioned Gospel, that's enough to me, I feel home there, be it a Catholic, a Methodist, a Baptist, a Lutheran or a Pentecost Church.
We are not all alike, but that''s a question more of where we are raised than theology.
The Apostolic articles of Faith are essential, and if Oprah Winfrey has left that road, I am deeply sorry for her and her followers.
Pray that God will leave his children on the road to salvation.
It's so sad, really, when seeking souls are lead astray.
It's a tragedy.

Dear Pilgrim,

That reminds me of the song i learned when I was little called, "Only Elohim". It went:

Only Elohim could ever make the heavens,
The universe is fashioned with His love,
Oh, how could we ever worship someone else,
No one else could do the things He does.

Only Elohim, only Elohim, only Elohim is God, you see,
Only Elohim, only Elohim, only Elohim is God.

There was a 2nd part to that song, too. I remember a friend pointing out that the song is a little inaccurate because Elohim means God in Hebrew, but it also means "a god" in the Bible. Anyway, I always liked that song.

Very good poem, by the way. WHO is that guy with Oprah?! I don't watch Tv so I wouldn't know, althogh I know who Oprah is ;)

God bless you,
LPP

Oprah has left her Baptist roots of long ago, for sure. She's been subtle about her beliefs in the past, but is now very bold about her New Age spirituality. Eckhart Tolle is just another lost guru that she promotes, worshipping the idol of self.

All praise be to Jesus Christ our only Lord and Savior. On Christ the solid rock we stand...all other ground is sinking sand!
