Today one of my best friends in baseball, Mike Sweeney of the Kansas City Royals is undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee. Mike went on the disabled list two weeks ago and has been plagued with injuries in recent years.He is such a solid witness for Christ and an encourager to his teammates. Please pray that the surgery will be successful and that he'll be able to return to the lineup earlier than expected.

You better believe I'll be praying...my mom had that same surgery when she was in her twenties, and she was an athlete. That was before she knew Christ, and she came to know Him some time after, but if I remember the story well enough, the surgery was the beginning of her coming to know Christ. Glad to hear this man is already saved. Do they still do the surgery while you're awake, or do they put you under? Just wondering. My mom has told me of her surgery so many times, but I'll never tire of hearing of those days. Back then she was competing as a runner, and was into body building and weight training at a gym. Then, she came to know Christ, and she walked away from competition altogether. She's got an amazing testimony, that's for sure. I'll never forget the day we met a Christian CFLer, and they talked for ages, but I could tell he was really touched by her testimony, and it showed.
Enough rambling...any time you know of Christian athletes needing prayer, please post! I really enjoy finding out who's saved :)
