Question of the day

Fellow pilgrims I'd love to know: Who do you most relate to in the Bible? Why?

For me, it would be King David. For a few reasons: he was the youngest in his family and was not seen by his family as someone smart enough to be used by Lord. He is was big sinner and he knews it! He knew how to repent before the Lord. I relate to the depth of his emotions and transparency of his feelings. Just look at Ps 13 "How long O Lord? Will you forget me forever? .....How long must I wrestle with my thoughts." Or how about Ps 55 "My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death assail me. Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me."

Last year when I was going through an extremely emotional time I was actually judged harshly by a pastor, (who was also a friend of mine at the time), of being "emotionally unstable" and that I should never go on mission again - the situation had nothing to do with missions but he decided that I was not capable of "working" for the Lord. Imagine! Imagine if God, who knows all, made decisions like that - he wouldn't have called Moses - who thought he couldn't speak well enough, Peter, who spoke out too much - and emotional - wasn't it Peter who freaked out an cut the ear of a slave when Jesus was arrested?! And, King David, one minute he is bravely fighting for the Lord - the next he's running scared and hiding - hummmm, emotionally unstable? Perhaps a little -but who among us isn't emotionally unstable at some time in our lives?

There is only one requirement that I can think of to be used by God Almighty: a willing heart.

Yes, Little Missionary, I would love to be like David too!
Just imagine what the Lord said about David even though he had sinned so grievously...
Acts 13:22..."And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will."
Oh Little Missionary, Julie...Isn't this SO nice.
He knew that David would sin.
He also knew that David would repent from his sin and He knew that David would write such a great Psalm that us others who have sinned can relate to.
Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart O God; and renew a right spirit in me."

You know Julie, that pastor could have used a little of this verse!
He surely could have!

Yes -- much damage has been done by people of God -- poor use of words or judgemental attitude -- I remember a man years ago , bitter most of his life when a "pastor" said the reason his baby died was because he must have had hidden sin - this wonderful man played music for the salvation army open air meetings on sidewalks - he was so embittered after that remark he withdrew for years from people - Praise God, we were able to help him restore his walk with God before his homecoming -- YOUR DOING GOOD LIL MISSIONARY -
