Cows

Several times I've refered to the phrase, "He owns the cattle on a thousand hills". I know that Terry and others remember the old Sunday School song that we used to sing. Some of you have told me that the expression is new to you. Obviously you have never heard the song.

Here are the lyrics:

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills,
The wealth in every mine;
He owns the rivers and the rocks and rills
The sun and the stars that shine.
Wonderful riches more than tongue can tell,
He is my Father so they're mine as well.
He owns the cattle on a thousand hills
I know that He will care for me.

Some have despondently responded with their own version when God hasn't provided a cow.

It goes like this:

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills
But who needs a cow right now?

Check out a previous post to see how God can orchestrate the sale of cattle to meet your needs.

Dear Passin-thru..
Here I am!
I wrote you a nice email last night and I see by my sent box that I didn't even SEND it!!
Oh well, I will have to write it again.
I guess it is lost in Cyber Space somewhere!

Dear Pilgrim David..Those words to that chorus and the tune are running though my head.
Now you just look at those words and tell my why a little child would cash in on them?
I mean we had it made!
The wealth in the mines?
We had a nickle and it would buy us a chocolate bar or an "all day" sucker!
As for the rivers and the hills we had the base swimming pool or beaches to swim in, and lots and lots of hills to run up and down in those days when it was SAFE for little boys and girls to do so!
Oh it never bothered us when the sun didn't shine either because we were living!!!
Always a treat to run in the rain or have fun when the winds were blowing us all over the place!
The stars were there only for us children to count and wish upon a star when we lay on the damp grass in an evening with the moon lighting the darkness.
And somehow we knew, JUST knew that up in those starry skies there was God!
And He WAS watching over us.
And as Pilot-mom would say, "What? ME worry?"......Love Terry

PS...Too bad I don't see it in that child like thankfullness now David because sometimes I DO worry!
Pilot-mom's post sure talked ot ME!...From Pilgrim Pal Terry

Terry - your so right -- what was easy and care free when young - I agree too about Pilot Mom's post - truths we know and all have been talking about lately , but still - for some Divine reason , her post sent rippling effects thru the Christian community in here --
