Getting Worse?

Greetings, dear brothers and sisters! I just got back from the hospital where I had my intravenous treatment. The doctor on call noticed that the inflammation had gone down my forearm to my wrist and she was quite concerned. She added another type of medication to what I was already getting. I have to go back first thing in the morning and then they will arrange for home care nurses to come three times a day to administer the intravenous. Just what I need when I have a deadline to meet for the magazine I'm writing for. I'm encouraged to remember that God sovereignly appoints these circumstances and is in total control.

Earlier today I posted my reflections on growing old. Before going into the hospital I checked my overnight bag (I'm at work tonight) to see if there was a book stashed away inside. There was and it's a good one! One of my favorite authors is Elizabeth Skoglund. You can check out her web site @
http://www.elizabethskoglund.com She wrote a book almost 20 years ago entitled A Divine Blessing...A Well-Kept Secret of Life's Second Half. How appropriate after what I've been struggling with today. She shares a poem written by a much better known author than I'll ever be, the renowned Robert Browning. He writes:

Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be.
The last of life, for which the first was made:
Our times are in His hand
Who saith "A whole I planned.
Youth shows but half; trust God:
See all nor be afraid."

So, my Pilgrim Pals,

Please grow old along with me!
And for eternity...
We'll praise the great I AM,
The sinless, spotless Lamb.

Thanks for your prayers and for your fellowship which mean more than words can express.

Good night!

David

David, I am so sorry to hear that your infection has spread. I had a staph infection in my elbow a few years back and had to have my antibiotic administered thru the iv. They taught me how to do it so I could do it at home.

But the God who allows these infections is also the Creator for the cure. So we will continue to lift you and Carol up before His throne of grace.

Blessings, Brother!

Oh, David, it's so hard to go through these times. I didn't realize your infection has spread, and will step up my prayers for you, friend. May the peace and grace of the Lord cover you and enable to you to rest in Him. May His healing touch be yours this week, and may He help you with that deadline {{hugs}}

Blessings,
Vicki

PS---I remembered that poem from somewhere but forgot the author--thanks for including it here. Enjoyed your verses too.
